Cantieri di Pisa
Company profileFounded in 1945, Cantieri di Pisa boasts a rich history in boat building that can be traced back to constructing and refitting military vessels. This expertise can be seen in the present-day, as the Italian yard continues to build spectacular superyachts and perform exceptional refits, leading it to hold a significant place within the industry.
A name that has made yachting history and left an indelible imprint on modern and contemporary yacht building, Cantieri di Pisa – now owned by Enrico Gennasio, CEO of Alfagomma together with his brother– was founded in 1945 soon after the end of World War II, in Limite sull’Arno, 30 kilometres from Florence.
During its early years, the shipyard focused on the construction and refitting of civilian and military vessels. Working on both new builds and refits is an approach that would be reprised at other times in the shipyard’s history, as well as being a strategic choice with many benefits.
In 1956 the Shipyard, which had in the meantime fully implemented production, decided to move to Darsena Pisana on the Canale dei Navicelli, second only to La Spezia, where the company is still based today with a production area covering 50,000 m2.
In 2021, Cantieri di Pisa was acquired and relaunched by Enrico Gennasio, CEO of Alfagomma. The CEO of Cantieri di Pisa is Marco Massabò, a passionate sailor with many years’ professional experience working with the most prestigious brands in the yachting industry.
In parallel with yacht building, Cantieri di Pisa continues to perform refits, a choice that opens a direct channel of communication between the Research and Development office and captains, and gives the shipyard another opportunity to improve production.
The shipyard is determined to drive style evolution in the world of motoryachts by fine-tuning a highly personal and recognisable language made up of powerful, immediate brushstrokes that give the boat an unmistakable identity.
