Exclusive Vault for the Ultra Rich Opens Near Harrods

Housed within a 120-yar old grade-II listed former mansion next to the historic Dorchester Hotel and close to the iconic Harrods department store, the vault is being touted as the world’s most exclusive safety deposit box.

Sizes range from the smallest box which is akin to an average filing cabinet and costs £600 a year to rent, through to entire rooms that are priced at an incredible £2.5 million a year.

The London vault will be run by International Vaults London and is said to offer the feel of an exclusive private members club rather than a bank.

Services at the vault are premium too, with customers ferried to and from the vault in Rolls-Royce cars by a personal chauffeur

When they arrive at the site, customers will be greeted by two doormen who will guide them through the security which includes fingerprint and iris scans to open doors to the basement vault. Then, “white-gloved custodians” will help customers collect their boxes.

The vault is protected by steel-lined walls, ceiling and floor to prevent robbers from tunnelling underneath.

IBV, which is owned by South African multimillionaire Ashok Sewnarain, said it was opening the vault due to spiking demand from the world’s wealthiest people for safety deposit boxes, in fear of a possible reactin against rising inequality.

IBV also has three branches in South Africa, as well as vaults in Zurich and Dubai.
