Mercedes Celebrates 125 Years
Mercedes-Benz is to mark its 125th birthday with a special advertising campaign celebrating the car maker’s illustrious history.
The print, television and Internet adverts will include depictions of Mercedes vehicles dating back over a century, including the Benz Patent – generally considered the world’s first ever automobile.
In addition to the commemorative adverts, Mercedes will also host several other events in honour of the 125-year milestone throughout 2011.
The focal point for proceedings will be Mercedes-Benz World in Stuttgart, Germany.
In late January, a celebratory gala was held at the popular visitor centre, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the guest of honour.
At the Mercedes-Benz Museum, in addition to the permanent collection, a special exhibition of modern and contemporary art featuring Mercedes cars will be on display from May through September.
The temporary exhibition will include a series of paintings called CARS created by artist Andy Warhol in 1986 to mark Mercedes’ 100th birthday.
Since its foundation in 1886, Mercedes-Benz has patented approximately 80,000 inventions.
