Richard Branson Builds New Luxury Retreat in British Virgin Islands

British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson has created a new luxury island retreat in the British Virgin Islands.

Called The Branson Estate and developed by The Virgin Group, the 125-acre resort is located on Moskito Island off the coast of Virgin Gorda, and can host up to 22 guests in three lavish villas.

The villas – Headland House, Mangrove Villa and Beach Villa – together offer a total of 11 bedrooms

Other notable amenities at the estate include a recreation area for all leisure activities, a Beach House with a wraparound infinity pool and swim-up bar, nearby tennis pavilion and a watersports centre.

In terms of dining options, the resort offers bespoke menus to order, while the Beach House kitchen offers a outdoor dining area with a grill and pizza oven.

It is a short boat ride away from Branson’s famous home on Necker Island and is described as offering its guests a ‘home away from home’ ambience.

The island also has nine private lots, all of which will be developed into villas. All nine of the lots have been sold to unnamed buyers, and construction on the first villa will begin this year, according to Virgin.

Moskito Island was purchased by Branson £10 million in 2007. Bookings will be available from early 2016.
