From its remarkable location to its extensive range of services, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard is recognised as the premier refit destination for the Asia-Pacific region. Superyachts.com takes a closer look at Rivergate, to uncover how it truly is an exceptional hub for not just the superyacht industry in Australia, but internationally.

Opened in 2006, family-run Rivergate Marina & Shipyard has seen steady growth over the last 18 years. Developing in conjunction with the expanding Australian superyacht industry, and responding to industry demands, the Brisbane-based yard has carefully shifted its focus from the domestic market to include the international cruising yachts of the Asia-Pacific region.

The marina is located on the East Coast of Australia, just four nautical miles from the centre of Brisbane: a truly international and bustling city for Rivergate’s visitors to enjoy. Just four days cruising from the South Pacific, two days from the Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef and Sydney, it is the perfect refit and maintenance location for vessels based in the region. It is also based just 10 minutes from the international airport, making it highly accessible during refit periods for Owners, crew and captains.

Rivergate features 105 berths for yachts  up to 90m, alongside two in-water service berths. With deep water access at all times and a 24/7 fuel wharf, the marina is also the official Customs and Quarantine clearance port for South East Queensland.

Not only boasting a welcoming berthing and marina location, there are a multitude of reasons why Rivergate is also recognised as the premier refit yard in the region. It features over 12,000 sqm of paved hardstand space alongside a 55m superyacht refit shed, supported by two travel lifts. Visitors benefit from an array of services including 24/7 security cameras and overnight security patrols, concierge, free wifi, and a dedicated crew lounge, so Owners, captains and crew can relax in the ultimate safety and comfort.

Rivergate offers exceptional refit and repair services, focusing on the complete management of a project and ensuring a successful and seamless experience for clients. An array of on-site specialists bolster its expertise, offering everything from naval architecture and engineers to bespoke cabinet-makers and propulsion experts.

Its team of project managers and contractors boast a wealth of experience that is not just limited to superyachts; the technical capabilities of the marina have been recognised by Government agencies, leading to the completion of several refits on law enforcement and fisheries vessels.

Rivergate has completed some exceptional refits over the years that highlight this expertise, one of which is KOKOMO II. This completely bespoke vessel spent eight months on the hardstand, undergoing various complex upgrades, including a transom extension. The project involved over 20 different contractors working on the vessel, including engineers, electricians, fabricators, and painters. She was returned to the water bigger and brighter, capturing the attention of onlookers with a full exterior repaint.

With an extensive array of world-class offerings, an exceptional level of service to visiting vessels, with support offered before, during and after a visit, there is no doubt as to why Rivergate has been recognised as the premier refit destination for the Asia-Pacific region. The experience and expertise combined with its prime position on the East Coast of Australia, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard is rightly positioned as a significant superyacht hub for the region, where visitors can experience unmatched services in a world-class location.
