A Milestone for Damen Yachting: Two Amels Limited Editions Launched in One Day

The recent launches of the Limited Edition Amels 242 and the Amels 200 mark a historical moment for Damen Yachting; it is the first time that two superyachts have been launched on the same day, despite more than 50 Amels Limited Editions now at sea. 

Tim Heywood has penned the timeless exterior design for both yachts, whilst Winch Design has created the stunning interiors. The customisable nature of the Limited Editions’ interiors is what makes them so desirable for Owners, who are able to pour their personalities into their yachts.

Amels 242 

The new Amels 242 is the eighth of the series to be launched. She is characterised by the Owner’s desire for an eye-catching exterior colour scheme, breaking the all-white tradition. The result is breathtaking, with a flag blue hull and an oyster white superstructure alongside a unique dark grey used for vertical lines and stretches of windows.

The interior echoes the unique exterior of the yacht, with Winch Design taking the blue colour palette and incorporating it within multiple elements of the interior. Upon the guests’ entrance into the yacht, they are met with a wall of semi-precious agate blue stones, continued throughout the design as various blue marbles are used onboard as well as blue mosaics featured in the Wellness Area.

‘The Owner wanted something different, and that is certainly what he has achieved, especially with the variety of marbles,’ commented Peter Dijkwel, Project Manager at Damen Yachting. ‘This Amels Limited Editions superyacht is a great testament to the range and its flexibility – we can make anything work with this platform. That said, we couldn’t have done it without the consistent and positive cooperation with the Owner’s representative. This yacht has been created entirely on schedule and will be delivered on time on 1st June 2024.’

However, the styling is not the only standout feature of this yacht. This Amels 242 features a dedicated Owner’s deck with a jacuzzi, a large aft swimming pool and a lower deck Wellness Area. Up to 12 guests can be accommodated in six staterooms, with multiple decks lending themselves to unique dining experiences and entertaining layouts. 

Amels 200

The Amels 200 is a popular ocean-going platform, an evolution of the outstanding Amels 188. This Limited Edition is the fourth Amels 200 superyacht, set apart from the previous three due to the Owner’s desire for dazzling interior features and an alternative layout. 

With the intentions onboard the yacht being the ability to work remotely and to entertain guests, an additional balcony has been added to the main deck as well as exterior bars on every deck. These unique features complement the Owner’s desire to spend extended periods at sea. Similar to the latest Amels 242, she has a standout exterior with a whisper grey hull, a colour which is beautifully repeated in the exterior curves and arches. 

‘This yacht perfectly reflects the Owner’s unique vision,’ explained Tom Oomkens, Project Manager at Damen Yachting. ‘There are many great details, for example, the windbreakers have been upgraded to feature a dark grey tone to mimic the windows. The Owner had many exciting design ideas and is experienced – which benefited the project hugely.’

Although both yachts are set to be used privately, their fluid layouts and abundance of amenities mean that they are already highly suited to the charter market. The classic Amels Limited Editions are considered collectors’ items within the superyacht industry, a powerful legacy which will be continued by the next-general editions of the Amels 60 and Amels 80.
