A True Example of Customisation: 29m Sanlorenzo SL96A Launched
From Sanlorenzo's popular SL series, the Italian yard has announced that 29m SL96A has been launched. She features over 500 modifications, setting a new standard for customisation options on offer to Owners wishing for a yacht that truly reflects their desires.
SL96A is a 29m, asymmetric model that boasts a stunningly sleek GRP hull and superstructure with sweeping horizontal lines. Claiming a beam of 6.67m and a draft of 1.9m, these smaller dimensions mean that even the shallowest waters are made accessible, allowing guests to experience the entire scope of the sea whilst cruising in luxury.
This bespoke yacht has been fully customised to her Owner’s tastes, the level of personalisation going beyond the aesthetics of the base design. Nick Hatfield, Sanlorenzo’s UK representative who oversaw the build, commented: ‘Building a Sanlorenzo takes time and passion, and we’ve worked closely with the owner to bring their dream yacht to life, ensuring every element reflects their preferences and practical mindset.’
The design and configuration of the main living areas took priority in the customisation process, the Owner opting for a five guest-cabin, three crew-cabin layout. With the ability for one of the crew cabins to act as a guest cabin for children, the flexibility of SL96A is showcased.
The onboard luxury and comfort can be seen in the additions of ensuite shower rooms in all eight cabins, offering feelings of privacy onboard. To enhance this aspect for the Owner, a private inner hallway leading to the Owner’s cabin is also included.
Highlighting the outstanding nature of customisation that the Italian yard offers, Hatfield commented: ‘By the time the contract was signed, the owner of the SL96A had itemised 411 custom modifications outside the standard options list, and this number has now broken the 500, maybe even 600, barrier.’
The galley in particular was developed very closely with the Owner, ensuring that the space worked seamlessly with their life onboard. The end result is a unique layout that features a custom butterfly-wing serving hatch on the starboard side, meaning that food and drinks can be passed between front-of-house and the galley quickly and efficiently.
The Owner of SL96A commented on his experience with the level of customisation available: ‘I honestly had no idea at the start of this project just how much customisation Sanlorenzo would offer. As just one example, most builders offer their interior furniture in a choice of three or four veneers with either a matt or gloss finish. When I asked Sanlorenzo for its menu, the answer was: 'Any sustainably produced veneer available anywhere on the planet, with the grain direction at any angle and any degree of matt/gloss from 0% to 100% in 5% increments. Alternatively, any surface can be spray-painted in any colour or leather covered or mirrored along with any surface effect like fluting or fielding. And this applies to the ceilings as well as the walls and furniture'.’
The SL96A is a true example of a made-to-measure yacht, expected to be delivered at the end of March 2024 in time for the Mediterranean season.
