Abeking & Rasmussen (A&R) has announced that Björn Schlüter has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the German yard. With a wealth of experience and knowledge, Björn is set to be an asset to the A&R team, reflecting the shipyard’s values and building upon its expertise.

Since its inception in 1907, Abeking & Rasmussen has been located in Lemwerder, directly on the river Weser and surrounded by a blend of rural surroundings and urban infrastructure. The German yard has a long and powerful shipbuilding heritage, resulting in it being a leading builder within the superyacht industry today.

With five modern production hangars, a new dock, a syncrolift and diverse workshops, the exceptional facilities of A&R have made it possible for the yard to now launch yachts of up to a staggering 125m in length.

The shipyard is driven by pushing limits, consistently developing yachts that captivate the industry’s attention. Some notable examples of pioneering and innovative developments have been the delivery of the world’s fastest diesel yacht and the creation of non-magnetic steel.

A&R has recently announced that Björn Schlüter has been appointed as its new Chief Operating Officer. Björn has a wealth of management experience in shipbuilding, his most recent role being Head of Construction at Fassmer Shipyard.

The current CEO, Matthias Hellmann, will make up the second member of this future management duo, as he is set to take over as Chairman of the Management Board.

Björn’s extensive knowledge of shipbuilding management will be a wonderful addition to the expertise at A&R, as the German yard continues to develop exceptional yachts and maritime products that gain recognition all over the globe.
