Ares Yachts’ 62m Flagship SIMENA Enters Outfitting

SIMENA is a classically-inspired ketch-rigged sailing yacht, with exterior lines penned by Taka Yacht Design, evoking a gentler age of sail. Ares Yachts’ Project Manager Piraye Sahinkaya Orhun commented, ‘The main inspiration behind the exterior lines was loosely the clipper ships-especially the bow with fully rigged bowsprit and trail board. One can also find some resemblances with the early steam yachts, sharing lovely, classic sheer lines.’

The design prioritises generous living volumes under a carbon fibre superstructure and a steel hull for fast sailing. SIMENA boasts contemporary technology, including a hybrid drive system which will allow her to operate silently under electric power at up to six knots. 

SIMENA’s interior mirrors the classic inspiration which can be seen in her exterior profile. Overseen by Design Unlimited, she has an interior characterised by a calming and neutral palette that incorporates a range of luxurious materials to enhance her beauty, from tactile woven metals to alluring stones. 

‘Simena's interior is a timeless sanctuary, shaped by her modern design language, influenced by classic elements. The mix of contemporary and classic design converge into harmonious spaces, featuring intricate detailing, with hints of glamour through feature finishes and fittings’, commented Orhun. 

From amenities to AV solutions, SIMENA is equipped with a number stand-out features for guests to enjoy. She has a jacuzzi and sunpads aft of a large, covered cockpit, along with a flybridge that offers shade and spectacular views. The deckhouse saloon allows for formal dining as well as lounging, perfect for a range of onboard experiences for the 12 guests that can be accommodated onboard. 

An AV highlight of SIMENA is a dedicated smartphone application for guests to use that allows them to interact with the yacht’s AV and entertainment systems. The app will also give access to the state-of-the-art sound system and network system. 

Designed to RINA Class C, SIMENA is able to travel anywhere, tackling any of the world’s oceans in total safety and unparalleled comfort. She is expected to be delivered in December 2024, following a build time of just 18 months.
