Arksen’s Project Pelagos Completes Sea Trials

By Frances Flannagan

Following her launch in May, Arksen’s Project Pelagos has completed her technical sea trials. She is the latest yacht from the Arksen 85 model; a remarkably efficient long-range explorer with an extensive standard specification.

Arksen is a company which aims to combine adventure and exploration with comfort and safety. Project Pelagos, one of two 85’s currently under construction, reflects this ethos perfectly: she is designed with versatility in mind, able to embark on worldwide adventures as well as being a luxury cruising vessel, ideal for family life. She has a maximum speed of 14 knots, and is powered by 2 x 246kW engines.

In relation to Project Pelagos' completion of sea trials, the Arksen techincal team have commented: 'Before handing over to her Owner, the Arksen 85 explorer vessel undergoes an extensive regime of shipyard trials, alongside and at sea, to commission all systems, ensure their function in a range of conditions and carry out final check, prior to Owner’s handover trials. As part of this process, the vessel goes through progressive speed trials in a range of operating displacements, with 85-02 comfortably meeting her target speed of 14 knots at half-load displacement.'

She is a semi-custom model, with exterior architecture by Humphreys Yacht Design and interior design by Design Unlimited. She has the ability to accommodate up to 12 guests in four cabins, highlighting the emphasis placed on the family. This emphasis can be seen throughout her interior design, which features a large, open-plan main deck with a relaxed seating format.

Project Pelagos has a tri-deck layout and efficient hull design, which are features of all 85 models, however, the interior is completely customisable, contributing to the versatility of this yacht.

Superyachts.com would like to congratulate Arksen on the successful completion of Project Pelagos’ sea trials and wish her the best of luck in the next stages of her development.
