Construction Update on Project 406: The World’s Largest True Sportfish Yacht

By Frances Flannagan

Royal Huisman’s 52m Project 406 is nearing completion as she is ready for the installation of her upper deck, sun awning hardtop and radarmast. She is fitted out for both high end sportfishing and luxurious living, reflecting the high-quality shipbuilding of the Dutch yard.

Royal Huisman is known for building the finest and most distinctive yachts, with 'The ultimate expression of personal freedom' at the heart of its designs. Project 406, an Alustar® aluminium motor yacht, stays true to this core value: she is the world’s largest true sportfish yacht with a towering profile, six decks and a LOA of 52m.

Vripack Design Studio is responsible for her interior and exterior design and her naval architecture, resulting in a highly unique and distinctive vessel, with a low bow, high bulwarks and a low cockpit aft.

The high tower showcases how she is a yacht intended for both fishing and leisure. It offers outstanding views with a downward angle for specialised fishing as well as acting as a superb viewing platform for guests to marvel at and immerse themselves within their surroundings.

With all the amenities expected of a world-class superyacht, Project 406 is not only the largest sportfish yacht but also the most bespoke and meticulously engineered. Royal Huisman is considered to be the only shipyard in the world capable of delivering such a bespoke project, emphasising the premium nature of the Dutch yard.

Project 406 has been built by a team of over 350 individual experts, with immaculate and extensive engineering. The testing of her board systems and innovative technical installations is nearing completion prior to her final transport, upcoming launch and trials.

Superyachts.com would like to congratulate Royal Huisman on this magnificent build and look forward to following Project 406 on the last steps of her construction process.
