Echo Yachts Begins Construction on Largest Sailing Catamaran Superyacht
Echo Yachts has proudly announced it has started construction on what is set to become the world's largest sailing catamaran superyacht: the 57m ASC57. This ambitious project is being developed in collaboration with the esteemed Dykstra Naval Architects and One2Three Naval Architects, and is currently taking shape at Echo Yachts' state of the art shipyard located within the Australian Marine Complex.
The ASC57 draws inspiration from Echo Yachts' earlier project, the luxurious motor yacht CHARLEY 2. The new catamaran will include luxury accommodation and a helicopter landing area, alongside an extensive selection of water toys, ensuring that her future owners will enjoy both comfort and adventure on board.
However, what sets the ASC57 apart from M/Y CHARLEY 2 is her advanced twin-Dynarig sail system, designed by Southern Spars. This innovative feature, paired with Dykstra’s signature luxurious yachting aesthetic, evident in its previous iconic projects such as SY BLACK PEARL and SY HETAIROS, establishes the ASC57 as a remarkable vessel in her own right.
The collaboration with One2Three Naval Architects, known for its internationally acclaimed 84m aluminium trimaran superyacht M/Y WHITE RABBIT who was delivered in 2018, and the recently launched 56m catamaran superyacht M/Y CHARLEY 2, ensures that the ASC57 will be crafted to the highest standards of excellence. This partnership signifies a commitment to exceptional quality and a shared vision of pushing the boundaries of yacht design and performance.
In addition to her luxurious features, the ASC57 is designed with environmental consciousness in mind. She will incorporate a regenerative power system, complete with twin shaft generators and a sophisticated battery storage system that enables silent running. This innovation not only allows for a tranquil cruising experience but also aligns with the growing emphasis on sustainability in the yachting industry. The vessel’s controllable pitch propeller (CPP) driveline system will further enhance efficiency, allowing the main engine to operate without the reliance on separate generators, offering a clear performance advantage.
The construction of the ASC57 stands as a testament to the Australian shipyard's unwavering commitment to delivering extraordinary vessels that push the boundaries of yacht design and technology. As the shipyard embarks on this record-setting journey, the industry highly anticipates its arrival.
We at Superyachts.com eagerly await further updates on this groundbreaking project, and look forward to witnessing the progression of the ASC57 in the months to come.
