FLIBS 2022: Onboard Ocean Alexander 37L with Dan Mundy
Crossing paths soon after their interview during the Monaco Yacht Show, Ocean Alexander President, Dan Mundy, gave Shari Liu a tour of the exquisite 37L model on display at FLIBS 2022.
The 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show has certainly been busy for Ocean Alexander. The premium American yacht builder had a total of 5 yachts on display, including 3 new models Among those models was the 37L from the brand’s Legend series, onboard which Dan Mundy welcomed Shari Liu for a tour.
“This is a culmination of literally the 45 years that Ocean Alexander has been in business,” explains Dan Mundy. “This is one of our flagships, it presents an offering that really we feel we don’t have competition in – and for that we’re very grateful.”
One of the main features of the remarkable Evan K Marshall design is the use of onboard functional space throughout the yacht.
“The things that you will notice is just the use of functional space,” says Dan. “Functional space is one of our core focus items when designing and reinterpreting our yachts.
“The beauty speaks for itself, when you walk in and you see that we are at our core a luxury brand, and you can see the details and finish, we want to always push the boundaries to the next level.”
On the 37L, the next level is the master stateroom, which rivals those of yachts in larger categories. Additionally, there is an expansive beach club with modern features, complemented by the vast outdoor entertainment spaces afforded by the tri-deck design.
For Dan, Ocean Alexander is constantly evolving with client requests and preferences to stay ahead with their range of models.
“As we go back to those core values, we are a luxury lifestyle brand. So, we have found that we cannot typecast out owners. We cannot look at them and say that is the exact demographic, because we’ll be proven wrong tomorrow.
“I think our range definitely is more suited to yacht owners, and when I say yacht owners, I mean people who are actually in the market and accustomed to the yachting lifestyle.
“You’ll generally find our owners are very savvy, they’ve owned numerous boats – thankfully a lot of them are ours previously – and we’re able to really capture a broad audience. But I’d absolutely say that we’re capturing an educated audience.”
