Keel Laid of Eighth Yacht from Heesen's 55m Steel Series
Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has announced that the keel of a new 55m Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) steel motor yacht has been laid. Code-named Project Venus, YN 20655 is the eighth vessel from the yard’s highly successful Steel Series, due for delivery in spring 2025.
At 55m, Project Venus is expected to be another spectacular addition to the Heesen fleet. The newest vessel from the yard's popular Steel Series boasts a distinct profile, featuring an exterior design by world-renowned design studio Omega Architects and an interior design by the esteemed Luca Dini Design & Architecture.
With a sturdy yet elegant exterior adorned with bold lines and an unmistakable ‘shark tooth’ motif behind the wheelhouse, Venus is set to stand out on the water; the third Heesen yacht to boast the model’s restyled exterior.
Despite offering several expansive spaces both inside and out for socialising and relaxing, Venus’ grand size refuses to prevent her from enjoying quaint Mediterranean harbours: all thanks to her enclosed volume of 760 GT.
Inside, the design team worked collaboratively to ensure Venus’ layout was optimised to the highest quality: making use of her general internal volume combined with the requirement of providing exceptional luxury and privacy onboard.
Project Venus can accommodate 12 guests across six cabins, with a private 82m2 owner's apartment located forward on the main deck which features a French balcony on the starboard side.
The keel of Project Venus was laid at the world-class Talsma Shipyard in Friesland, with whom Heesen has long contracted its steel fabrication. Heesen’s recognised Oss yard, which focuses on aluminium work, remains in line with the best industry practices by keeping the two metals separate to reduce cross-contamination.
Friso Visser, Heesen’s CCO commented on the momentous occasion: ‘We are excited to celebrate this milestone in the construction of YN 20655, Project Venus. Our 55-metre Steel Series is one of the most successful in Heesen’s history.’
‘We pioneered the construction of superyachts on speculation in the 2000s with the launch of the 37-metre series. Today, we have mastered the art of building superyachts in series on proven engineering platforms and offer no fewer than five different designs ranging from 50 to 57 metres. At 55 metres, Venus is among our Crown Jewels.’
Project Venus will have a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,500nm at a cruising speed of 13 knots. As an FDHF steel vessel, she offers ultra-efficiency alongside excellent security and comfort during cruising.
We would like to congratulate Heesen on this construction milestone, and are looking forward to keeping readers up to date with the latest as Project Venus moves through her build.
