LILY: Erasing the Boundaries of Design

By Sophia Spanton

Beyond Custom? No, beyond limits. This 101-metre marvel isn't just another superyacht, it's a floating rebellion against everything conventional yacht design stands for. Unveiled at the Dubai International Boat Show on February 19, 2025, Lily is the brainchild of Vripack's boundary-obliterating design team and Oceanco's master craftsmen. Taking inspiration from nature's own water lily, LILY transforms this concept into something profoundly revolutionary.

Wrapped in an exterior that curves like protective lily leaves, this yacht won’t just turn heads; it snaps necks. The newly coined term ‘leisure deck’ perfectly encapsulates the originality of this vessel, as it welcomes guests with a breathtaking 4m-high ceiling that opens onto a wellness area, integrated waterside pool, gym, and watersports gallery. Below deck, storage for four tenders and a helicopter proves this beauty has serious brawn.

But Vripack's true genius? Ditching traditional side walkways entirely. The result is a smooth, seemingly impenetrable exterior that maintains guests' connection to the ocean through one-way glass windows. As Vripack's co-creative director Marnix Hoekstra puts it, ‘the key requirement from Oceanco was to conceive a yacht for the change makers who want to leave a mark’.

Vripack's obsession with the LILY's structure continues inside, where split-level platforms and varying deck heights eventually converge at a dramatic glass mezzanine. This leads to nine guest cabins, an open-plan cinema, and, for the kid in all of us, a children's play nest accessed via suspension bridge.

The owner's split-level sanctuary crowns the top deck, complete with a massive 315msq private sundeck terrace and an interior lily pond open to the elements, from which the elevator rises like something from a Bond villain's lair. Even the crew areas are meticulously designed for maximum efficiency and discretion, with hidden access running below the main deck.

Behind Lily's jaw-dropping aesthetics lies serious environmental muscle. Lateral Naval Architects' Energy Transition Platform with hybrid Dynafin propulsion and fuel cell technology.

LILY represents what Hoekstra describes as a ‘boundaryless onboard experience’, embodying Vripack's belief that ‘it's in the uniqueness of an idea where the true value for the future owner lies’.

This isn't just pushing boundaries - it's forgetting they ever existed.
