Top100: Lurssen Launches 142m Opus
Yesterday was anything but a typical grey morning at Lurssen Yachts’ Bremen shipyard, as the mammoth superyacht builders launched the 142m superyacht Opus.
The long-awaited superyacht showed off her anything-but-ordinary exterior design to the world as she hit the water yesterday, showcasing the penmanship of renowned Italian studio Nuvolari & Lenard. Formerly known as Project Redwood, Opus was initially conceived as a 139m+ project signed by Moran Yacht & Ship in 2015.
‘In all modesty, this is the largest yacht ever sold by a yacht brokerage company in the history of the world,’ Robert Moran told the Superyachts.com Breaking News Centre in 2015. ‘This is totally a different beast. It’s not just a big yacht - it has so many unique features.’
While Opus is certainly more than just her length overall, her size is no understatement. An incredible 36 guests will be comfortably accommodated in her 20 staterooms, and her unique exterior design spans a total of 6 decks - including two helipads and a large swimming pool. Nuvolari & Lenard are also responsible for her interior design.
Opus is certainly one of the more outlandish designs to come from the Lurssen shipyard, boasting a multi-palette colour scheme of blue, white and black and her name embossed upon a blunt bow.
Scheduled for delivery to her owner later this year, Opus will make a formidable entrance into the world Top 100 largest yachts, at an impressive number 12.
Both designer and shipyard are unable to comment on the particulars of her design and interiors, but we remain at hand to bring you more news of Opus’ journey to delivery.
