Lurssen Launches 146m Superyacht OPERA

By Emily Dawkins

Monday was anything but the usual grey morning at Lurssen Yachts' Bremen outfitting facilities, as the world-leading shipyard launched another mammoth superyacht of the year: 146m OPERA.

The 146m superyacht, originally known as Project Opera and now officially named Opera, hit the water on Monday morning from the yard’s outfitting facilities in Bremen, Germany.

The long-awaited superyacht, who was first briefly spotted in May last year, revealed her strong white profile to the world as she left the Lurssen shed, showcasing her numerous decks and twin helipads. She was first seen in 2021 during her transportation to Bremen’s largest 290m floating dock as a bare hull.

Featuring similar design qualities to the yard’s recently launched 160m BLUE, the largest superyacht to be launched this year that was penned by Terence Disdale Design, Opera’s design team remains tightly under wraps, but her taut exterior lines bear a resemblance to the London-based designer’s penmanship.

Unsurprisingly, the details of Opera’s specifications also remain sparse, but she is expected to have a volume of over 10,000 gross tonnes.

Opera is currently the largest under-construction vessel at Lurssen and is due to become the sixth largest yacht within its fleet when delivered. At 146m, Opera only just surpasses the 145m Project Luminance, another Lurssen new build that is expected to be launched in the coming months. The German yard is certainly busy, with the 100m+ Project Alibaba and 122m Project Jag also currently in-build.

Expected to be delivered to her owner later this year, Opera will make a formidable entry into the world's Top 100 largest yachts, taking an impressive place at number 10.

With little known about this impressive new German-built superyacht, we remain at hand to bring you more news of Opera’s journey to delivery.
