Lurssen Launches 55m Superyacht Project 13800
Lurssen has announced the successful launch of Project 13800 earlier today. Scheduled for delivery in summer this year, exactly three years on from contract signature.
Designed inside and out by British studio Bannenberg & Rowell, Project 13800 boasts a bold and forthright profile with unconventional use of colours. The yard described her ‘museum quality interior furniture pieces’ in a statement, emphasising the meticulous attention to detail not only in the living areas but technical spaces too. Built for an experienced owner, Project 13800 was born out of a clear brief for her owners’ lifestyle requirements.
Dickie Bannenberg comments, ‘We are excited to see 13800 emerge from her shed. The initial concept was influenced by our studies based on the classic yacht Carinthia VI, designed by Bannenberg Senior, and built by Lürssen in 1973. Every centimetre of interior and exterior space usage has to be presented, discussed and agreed with the owners, and this has led to many inspiring discussions. We really look forward to seeing her completed over the coming months, including a spectacular interior.’
Best known for its 80m+ stars of the Top 100 largest yachts in the world, Project 13800 might be considered a deviation from Lurssen’s typical size range. The yard has however affirmed its commitment to re-establishing itself as a serious contender for the 55 - 75m range.
This consolidated commitment to growth comes alongside Lurssen’s increasing recognition as a serious player in the refit sector, after re-delivering 110m Kaos (ex Jubilee) just last year.
Managing Partner Peter Lürssen comments, ‘We are very grateful for the client’s trust in us to build his dream of a bespoke 55-metre yacht. The OR-team has fantastic experience with that size of yacht and it has been a very fruitful collaboration so far.’
