Marina Port Vell Celebrates Record Year and €20 Million Transformation

By Nora Hart

Marina Port Vell, the Mediterranean’s premier superyacht marina, has marked an extraordinary year, culminating in its €20 million transformation and a record-breaking occupancy during the 37th America’s Cup. In 2024, the marina became the global epicentre for superyachts, hosting over 150 luxury vessels, with 75% of them visiting Barcelona for the first time. The event saw the marina reach a full 100% occupancy.

This success was driven by the completion of a €20 million transformation in July 2024, which optimised the marina’s infrastructure, modernised its landscaping, and introduced a cutting-edge fuel supply system. The project played a crucial role in reinforcing Barcelona’s status as the Mediterranean’s leading yachting hub, further elevating the marina’s offerings for superyachts.

2024 has been a pivotal year for us,’ commented Ignacio Erroz, General Manager of Marina Port Vell. ‘We demonstrated our ability to provide world-class service, establishing ourselves as the leading superyacht marina in Barcelona and the Mediterranean.

To meet growing demand, Marina Port Vell expanded its staff from 30 to over 120 employees, ensuring the highest level of service for the influx of international visitors. The marina also launched “The Superyacht Marina Experience,” offering race viewers exclusive VIP access to onboard experiences with Wajer Yachts, gourmet dining at the Blue Wave cocktail bar, luxury shopping with brands like Louis Vuitton and Prada, and premium spaces such as the Moët & Chandon Terrace.

Looking ahead, Marina Port Vell plans to build on its success in 2025 by prioritising sustainability, innovation, and strategic growth, ensuring it remains a leader in the global superyacht sector. With its world-class facilities and unparalleled location, Marina Port Vell continues to offer exceptional experiences for owners, visitors, and yacht enthusiasts.
