Born from a passion for the sea and a desire for eco-conscious business, Amer Yachts represents a shipyard pushing the boundaries of greener superyacht builds. Building innovative, technological and sustainable yachts, the Italian shipyard has gone from strength to strength over the years, now building its flagship vessel Amer 70 Steel.
Barbara Amerio, CEO and Sustainability Director of Permare Group, commented on how the family-run Italian shipyard has evolved: ‘our range of production has doubled: we started with composite and now we range from 95 ft to 120 ft, specialising in custom yachts.’
Announcing the start of construction on its flagship vessel, Amer 70 Steel, in June, the CEO revealed that her length has now grown from 70m to 74m. Due to be ready for delivery in 2026, Barbara Amerio commented on the new-build, ‘this a new challenge for us… it's been a real adventure. We are so proud of this kind of production.’
With sustainability an important industry discussion at the moment, the pair shared details about Amer Yachts’ move to stay green: ‘we are a pioneer: our scope tries to reduce consumption and emission,’ stated Amerio. The yard prides itself on having multiple environmentally-friendly credentials including a circular economy and lifecycle assessment.
In closing, the CEO and Sustainability Director of Permare Group revealed more about a brand-new explorer model, Amer 41 Steel that was unveiled just hours before at the Monaco Yacht Show. ‘We are full of surprises because we have just launched the 41 steel: a new collaboration with Luiz de Basto.’
