MYS 2022: Diana Yacht Design on the Benefits of Artificial Intelligence

By Emily Dawkins

We were delighted to welcome Diana Yacht Design to the studio this year on day three of the Monaco Yacht Show. In conversation with Designer and Naval Architect Casper Marelis and Designer Nick Hoedjes, we discussed the latest innovations from the design and naval architecture studio, its newest concept 70m PROJECT KAIZEN, and the benefits of artificial intelligence in the world of superyachting.

‘We’re currently exploring new ways to visualise our designs and come up with new ideas’, said DIANA Designer Nick Hoedjes, when asked about the latest innovations from the studio, ‘it's always important to keep innovating and make our own designs stand out from the rest.’

At this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, Diana Yacht Design has been shining a light in particular on its presence in the world of yacht design through its inclusion within the show’s iconic Yacht Design and Innovation Hub. The DIANA team revealed more about the new 70m concept PROJECT KAIZEN, alongside its breakthrough into the world of artificial intelligence with innovative technology that converts text to images.

‘The idea came from the difficult period of covid we’ve been in’, said Designer and Naval Architect Casper Marelis, as he explained that the 70m concept has been designed to cater to a more inclusive family life across multiple, versatile decks. In conversation with the designers, we also discussed the impressive nature of X-Treme Yachts' 33m Lady Fleur.

Life is certainly busy for the design and naval architecture firm, as Hoedjes explained how DIANA currently has, ‘20 projects in build right now, all at different stages of the build process.’

"We can integrate it all to have a complete package of one-stop yacht design."
