MYS 2022: Fraser Yachts Highlights Industry Positives of 2022
With Monaco Yacht Show now well under way, we spoke to Raphael Sauleau, CEO of Fraser Yachts, who shared his views on the ever-growing appetite for yachting, and the younger demographic of owners who are newcomers to the industry.
After dealing with the aftermath of the global pandemic, Mr. Sauleau revealed how the past two years have been surprisingly positive, noting how there has been a 20% increase in charter – an interesting insight into how there is a deep desire to travel and explore more than ever, particularly within our oceans.
“2021 was exceptional for the industry. It was very busy. We went into 2022 not knowing what to expect but hoping for the same. We noticed a slight drop in sales this year, however the value of the boats we have been selling has been high."
"For charter, there has been a 20% increase. This is extremely good for 2022. What is very positive here is there is still a very strong appetite for yachting, and it’s still ongoing.”
Another popular topic at this year's show is the new demographic of owners, something that Mr. Sauleau highlights perfectly, whilst also demontsrating his passion for maintaining a positive in an industry that cares so deeply for its clients.
“We saw a shift, particularly in age. I think there are a few reasons for it, one of the solutions for travelling during COVID was a yacht. That, combined with the growth of wealth in the last few years. Also, people have realised that it is a better alternative than a cruise liner. You can control the environment; go wherever you want and enjoy excellent service.”
After expanding their global presence further by opening an office in Greece, we also delve some of the yachts that are being exhibited this year.
“We have many yachts at the show this year, from Amels, to Sunseeker, including k2 and Victorious,” says Mr. Sauleau.
"The value of the boats we have been selling has been high. For charter, there has been a 20% increase. This is extremely good for 2022. What is very positive here is there is a very strong appetite for yachting, and it’s still ongoing."
