MYS 2022: Morley Yachts Talks Unique Charter Vessels
Morley Yachts Founder Tim Morley joined Shari Liu in the Superyachts.com Interview Studio to discuss the latest additions to the Boutique brokerage firm’s charter fleet and hear more about Morley’s work as Head Of Environmental Committee at MYBA. In true breaking news style, the Founder revealed the firm's brand-new Central Agency: 88m Le Ponant.
As a company built around the ethos that business is about building relationships and partnerships, boutique yacht brokerage firm Morley Yachts has grown in reputation but purposefully not in size since its launch into the industry in 2005.
‘We started in 2005, with very slow progressive growth. We’re not one of the big companies - we stayed small and I like it like that’, commented Founder of Morley Yachts, Tim Morley.
Remaining small and personal has led to a number of iconic vessels joining the firm’s charter and brokerage fleet. A notable superyacht within the Morley charter fleet is the legendary 99.13m CHRISTINA O. ‘CHRISTINA O is probably the most iconic yacht,’ explained Morley, ‘it’s got a fantastic history and people have an emotional reaction when they go onboard.’
Built in 1943 by Canadian Vickers, the spectacular vessel gained a reputation as one of the most written about yachts in history. Serving in World War II and hosting some of the world’s most influential people, the unique 99m motor yacht is currently available for charter with Morley, looking better than ever after a refit earlier this year.
'The feedback is fantastic because every charter we exceed expectations: people expect it to be good but it's even better.'
As Head of Environmental Committee at MYBA, Morley shares his drive to prepare for a greener future: ‘in the last year, we focused a lot on trying to find the next generation of engines and generators that could replace fossil fuels. It has proved to be such a long-term project…and now I’m shifting focus to really help the people who are doing biofuels.’ The Morley Yachts Founder revealed that with these synthetic, fully approved and fully proven biofuels, yacht owners can reduce the CO2 emissions of their existing yachts by around 90%.
With the interview drawing to a close, Tim Morley announced the addition of a brand-new vessel to the Morley Yachts charter fleet. The legendary 88m sailing cruise ship, Le Ponant, will be available for charter in Australia as a complete vessel, with more details to be revealed soon.
