Rivergate Marina & Shipyard’s Director of International Business, Steve Fisher sat down in the Superyachts.com Interview Studio to tell us more about the yard’s considerable new expansion, and talk all things Australia as it evolves into the next best superyacht destination.
‘We’ve been in existence for 14 years and we got sick of saying no to our customers when we have a policy of saying yes’ Rivergate Director of International Business, Steve Fisher told Shari Liu about the yard’s brand new expansion, ‘we realised that we had to increase the capacity to meet the market and that's what we’re in the process of doing.’
Due to be completed in the next 12-18 months, the $200 million expansion of the marina and shipyard is set to put Brisbane, and the whole of Australia, on the map as a premier superyacht refit destination, with key features including a state-of-the-art shiplift and increased space to service multiple vessels at the same time.
‘We want to run a facility that aspires to be the best in the world.’
As a family-owned business, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard is built on strong relationships and high-quality reputation. The Director of International Business highlighted that: ‘our opening and closing reports that we give to the owners and captains are some of the best in the world and they’ve been described that way by captains. Its not just about doing the work well, it's about documenting what you’ve done.’
With Rivergate featured in the new Superyachts.com Australia InDepth documentary series, Fisher commented on the series’ importance of promoting Australia as an exemplar superyacht hub: ‘Australia is a long way away from everywhere and so it hasn't had the exposure that some places in Europe have had… we’ve got to bring the world up to date with what's available in Australia and the South Pacific. There's a new experience just around the corner wherever you go.'
