MYS 2022: The Revolutionary Tech Behind Quantum Marine Stabilizers

By Heather Collier

Katie Ross, Business Development Manager and John Allen, President and Founder of Quantum Stabilisers joined Shari Liu in the Superyachts.com studio at MYS 2022 to talk about some exciting projects, old and new, and how their company has seen enormous growth over the course of the past two decades.

John Allen, President and Founder of U.S. stabiliser manufacturer Quantum Stabilisers spoke with Shari Liu of Superyachts.com on how their brand rose to the top of the industry after the invention of the zero speed stabiliser.

"For us, the big shift came when we were able to invent the zero speed stabiliser. That in itself allowed a small company like ourselves to take on bigger ones. We were a small company with big ideas. When you have such a young product, you have to develop it, and you have to keep developing it, and keep improving it. We've been very lucky in that respect," says Allen.

"The zero speed is the key to everything. The absolute comfort of the clients, and making a ship more comfortable is super critical."

Allen goes on to discuss how the company is constantly working at the drawing board; drafting up new products and technologies, whilst also expanding on others.

"We're always developing new products, some with bigger changes than others. We can go back to a ship that we worked on 10 years ago and add all these super new features", he says.

"We're currently working on a hybrid design power system. Green machinery and using less power is the goal, and to reduce this power by around 45%."
