MYS 2023: D-iD on Making Spaces Feel Like Home

By Frances Flannagan

We were delighted to welcome Kate & Dimitris Hadjidimos, Co-Directors of D-iD, to the Superyachts.com Interview Studio. Creating beautifully bespoke designs for superyachts and luxury residential homes, we discussed the intuitive ways in which D-iD brings dreams to life.

Working in a range of professional fields including carpentry, jewellery making and interior design, Kate & Dimitris Hadjidimos pooled their skills to create D-iD, a bespoke design studio specialising in superyachts and luxury residences. Described by Dimitris as ‘a unique pot of skillsets’, this range of expertise is reflected in the imagination and passion that is at the heart of each and every D-iD design.

‘Everything we do is to create meaning and personal connection, to spend time wisely, to feel connected to your environment. So that, wherever you are in the world, you feel at home in that space. And the way we do that is creating beautiful designs that are intuitively created, and that are deeply personal to each client’, commented Kate Hadjidimos.

The design firm redefines luxury, providing another level of design for the client; that being, working with them to create a design uniquely for, and with, each individual client. Every decision is based upon the question ‘What would the client want?’, whilst simultaneously working to future-proof each element, highlighting the care behind D-iD’s process.

On display at the Monaco Yacht Show was the studio’s 45m concept KUMU, a unique design with an unobstructed skyline and a generous amount of natural light, blending the indoors with the surroundings. Her design is characterised by features that align her closely with a sailing yacht with regards to access to the water, alongside the speed and amenities of a motor yacht.

The Co-Directors speak on the two new trends of sustainability and Artificial Intelligence within the yachting industry, as well as exciting recent company updates, including the signing of a new project for a client who is very sustainably-focused and a conversation with a shipyard about a series of yachts.
