MYS 2023: De Watère on Breaking the 'Bubbly's' Traditions

By Frances Flannagan

Returning to the Superyachts.com Interview Studio, Martin Konorza, Owner & President of De Watère, joined us to discuss the new ‘Petites’. Inspired solely by the grape, the company is dedicated to producing champagne that is not bound to tradition.

Martin Konorza, Owner and President of De Watère, shared the story behind his company, revealing that it was inspired by his initial dislike for champagne and that he wished to create a drink that was new and exciting, whilst containing the novelty that it is attributed to the traditional bubbly treat.

‘I’m always happy when people tell me they don’t like champagne. I’m like “Thank you! That was my reason for starting this up!”’

Konorza discussed one of the company’s new launches: the Petites. Served with glass straws instead of a glass, they are truly revolutionary within the champagne world.

The brand core is ‘to find the true soul of champagne’, with the aim to remove everything that hinders the grape from 'showing her full potential'. This lends itself to the company being highly sustainable, Konorza commented: ‘We don’t need an eco-friendly policy, because we can’t act against nature anyway’, due to De Watère viewing nature as its partner in order to create the best drink possible.

What sets the company apart is that it is new: ‘We’re not hindered by tradition’, as Konorza commented, meaning that they are a mobile business with a view to have the most fun as possible, to make the most out of their champagne.
