MYS 2023: Diana Yacht Design Speaks on Award Winning Innovative Projects

By Frances Flannagan

After joining us last year at the Monaco Yacht Show, Diana Yacht Design returned to the Superyachts.com Interview Studio to discuss the incredibly innovative designs that it has worked on over the past year. Nick Hoedjes, a Designer at the firm, revealed the studio's excitement at returning to Monaco, with one of its many notable yachts on display.

Nick Hoedjes, a Designer at Diana Yacht Design, explained the importance of the Monaco Yacht Show for the company. He commented that it is about:

‘Connecting with the industry, meeting the people you usually work with, meeting new clients, client meetings. And also, for the team… seeing new innovations, sustainability, basically getting more knowledge of the subjects that we work with.’

This year, the design firm had its award-winning yacht 44.3m ACE proudly on display at the show with Conrad Shipyard, of which Diana Yacht Design oversaw the naval architecture and construction. Engineering for this yacht began during the pandemic, the whole team meeting only for the first time at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022.

The firm has won multiple awards this year, notably for BLUE JEANS and LADY FLEUR, which features a wet launching system as ‘the front… is a monohull, and then the back is a catamaran’, a highly innovative design that has caught the attention of the industry.

Diana Yacht Design has a global reach, working with shipyards all over the world which Hoedjes believes is a strength; ‘to be able to adjust to their way of working, with the different shipyards’ emphasises the adaptability of the design studio which is a significant factor in the success of its designs.
