MYS 2023: Marina Port Vell on Preparing for the America’s Cup
Sasha Romashova of Marina Port Vell was a welcome visitor to the Superyachts.com Studio during the Monaco Yacht Show. Joining Shari Liu, Sasha caught us up on recent developments at the Barcelona-based marina, with an exciting look ahead to the America’s Cup next year.
The 37th America’s Cup will be heading to the vibrant Catalan city of Barcelona in October 2024, and Marina Port Vell will naturally be at the heart of the action.
“Of course, being a marina with a privileged location in the centre of Barcelona and having the regatta there, it only makes sense to be participating in the event for us,” explains Sasha Romashova.
Marina Port Vell will have 110 berths dedicated for superyachts during the America’s Cup, and are hard at work preparing exceptional experiences for visiting owners and their guests. “We already have a team working to create a unique experience for everyone staying with the marina,” says Sasha. “We just signed an agreement with Hermanos Torres, well-known Three-Star Michelin chef brothers, who will be our official caterers for a unique dining experience.”
Visitors will also be able to take advantage of the newly remodelled marina, fruits of a €20 million investment made two years ago. The upgrades include a new layout with 23 new berths for larger yachts, with a landscaping project and new bunkering system also to come.
Asked what makes Port Vell stand out, there is no hesitation for Sasha. “Of course our location in the centre of Barcelona! We have so many Michelin star restaurants, the Gaudi buildings, only 25-minutes from the airport, and I think the work of our team as well. We’re very detailed and every client for us is very special.”
