MYS 2023: Submerge on Enhancing Superyacht Exploration

SubMerge has been at the forefront of private leisure submersible expeditions. While not a manufacturer of the submersibles itself, SubMerge offers all services to ensure a seamless experience with the crafts.

“A lot of people are becoming really interested in having submarines onboard their superyachts,” explains Boris Nowalksi. “What they often don’t realise is that this is a very technical operation and requires a lot of experience to manage not only the sub but the operation behind it.

“We offer Captains and management companies a ‘plug-and-play’ solution. We can go from pre-purchasing, recommending which way to go, and once they have it on board we can help with the whole operation including deployment, usage, and servicing.”

With a higher demand from superyachts submersibles and other watercraft on board, Boris tells Shari how his company is focused on creating personalised excursions that offer new possibilities for superyacht guests.

“We work with different sets of clients, so when we have a client who is a superyacht owner that has a submersible onboard and they want to go to a specific location, they contact us and we create a whole expedition itinerary for them.

“We go, we scout the area, we look for the best diving spots, we do the underwater mapping before we even drop the sub. We make sure that everything is perfect so that the owner only has to get onboard the sub and enjoy themselves.”

Looking ahead to the future of SubMerge, Boris reveals some exciting developments in progress. One relates to the development of AI technology to enhance the mapping of diving spots, identifying different species of coral and marine life in real time.
