MYS 2024: KRM Yacht on Acquiring Largest Travel Lift in Turkey

By Frances Flannagan

Kerem Başer, Founder of KRM Yacht, joined Shari Liu at the Superyachts.com interview in Monaco for the very first time. Now a member of the ICOMIA refit group, KRM Yacht’s exceptional industry presence is made evident, also now boasting the largest travel lift in Turkey.

Founder in 2010, KRM Yacht is now recognised as a leading refit facility, located in Tuzla and now boasting over 100 employees. The yard focuses on refits, rebuilds and complex conversion projects.

Kerem Başer, Founder of the company, shared that KRM Yacht completes every aspect of the refit, with many in-house disciplines.

Having recently acquired the largest travel lift in Turkey, Başer commented:

'We realised that doing projects outside of our facility are really very hard to manage, and it's not cost effective for us. We really had too many issues about that, so we decided with the boards last year, that we should have a travel lift that nobody has in Turkey.'

Başer also shared the very exciting news that his refit yard has been approved as a member of the ICOMIA refit group. This exclusive group features only ten facilities as members, with KRM Yacht being the first Turkish shipyard to join.

Looking to the future, Başer revealed the company’s aim to invest in order to continue growth. This process has already begun, with a new interior workshop having been opened. This 2000 sqm facility features all modern machines and is a prime example of how KRM Yacht is looking to invest in completing everything in-house.
