MYS 2024: YPI Crew Unveils Proudest Achievements & Fascinating Sponsorships

By Frances Flannagan

Laurence Lewis, President of YPI Crew, sat down with Shari Liu at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024 to discuss the brand’s developments over recent years, as well as offering a glimpse into its future. Reflecting on the company’s achievements, Lewis shared both personal and professional insights into YPI Crew, emphasising the wealth of experience that elevates its services.

YPI Crew was established 22 years ago, when Laurence Lewis became fascinated with the superyacht industry after moving to the South of France. Reflecting on her proudest moments since the brand’s inception, Lewis commented:

‘My proudest achievement is probably how I see my colleagues develop and become the best version of themselves and the best recruiters in the industry.’

She also acknowledged how, in 2018, the Schulte Group acquired the majority stake of the company, which has greatly benefited YPI Crew over the past five years and will positively impact its future growth.

Lewis shared YPI Crew’s sponsorship of the ‘Seize the Day: Ocean Rowing’ project: where three women are planning to row from South America to Australia. This sponsorship highlights the company’s support of the wider superyacht industry, positioning it as a brand guided by an unwavering passion for all-things-yachting.

Drawing upon her extensive experience, Lewis shared some advice for Captains wishing to connect with yacht owners:

‘Owners are not looking for yes-men. They want the captain at the top of the ladder, who is running the boat, has an opinion, and can articulate his opinion clearly and effectively.’
