Reviving a Legend: SKAT Embarks on a New Chapter
The arrival of the 71 metre Lürssen superyacht, SKAT, at Oceanco in Rotterdam for an extensive refit marks a significant moment in her history. This yacht, known for her sleek design by Espen Øino International and luxurious interiors by Marco Zanini, has undergone several notable refits in the past, each enhancing her features and performance. The installation of a state-of-the-art audio-visual system, allowing for seamless integration of high-definition media throughout the yacht, is one such example of an impressive addition that SKAT has previously been fitted with.
In 2022, Lürssen's 71-metre SKAT completed a major refit at Palumbo SY in Marseille, which lasted approximately three months. This project included extensive technical interventions, such as a complete repainting of her distinctive ‘Skat’ grey, which comprises over 15 different pigments. Additionally, a significant portion of the exterior glazing was replaced, and the bridge deck aft area was transformed, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
Prior to this, SKAT underwent another ambitious refit at STP Shipyard in Palma, Mallorca, with a significant focus placed on her sundeck’s Jacuzzi area. This refit not only replaced the Jacuzzi but also repositioned it to create a more minimalistic and versatile space. Other areas that received attention included the wine room, pantries, and guest bathrooms. All of these adjustments were implemented to ensure that SKAT always remains up to standard and at the forefront of luxury and comfort.
Currently, SKAT accommodates up to twelve guests across six staterooms, providing ample luxury and privacy. The yacht can also accommodate up to nineteen crew members, ensuring a high level of service and attention to detail on board. Powered by twin MTU engines, she boasts an impressive range of 4,600 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 18.1 knots, making her well-suited for long voyages across diverse waters.
Her interior design, crafted by Marco Zanini, emphasises elegance and comfort, featuring high-quality materials and finishes that appeal to discerning owners and guests. The yacht's design and engineering allow for a seamless blend of luxury and performance, making her a standout vessel in the industry.
As SKAT embarks on this latest refit at Oceanco, we at Superyachts.com are excited to see how her features are further enhanced, continuing her legacy as a premier vessel in the world of superyachts.
