SES Yachts Announces the Successful Delivery of 32.7m FAR NIENTE

By Frances Flannagan

SES Yachts has announced that 32.7m motor yacht FAR NIENTE has successfully been delivered. She is the perfect example of a classic yacht that has been designed through a contemporary lens, capturing the essence of traditional yachting whilst being equipped with modern technologies.

FAR NIENTE features naval architecture and interior and exterior design by the renowned Hoek Design Naval Architects, with classic lines reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Attributing a heritage-feel to this yacht, her hull design is based on the herring luggers from the 20th century that could be found fishing on the North Sea.

Hoek Design’s Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) has been implemented to optimise her hull and propellor, alongside the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to FAR NIENTE’s single propellor. This has resulted in increased fuel efficiency, meaning that she has an impressive range of 3750 nm at cruising speed.

The combination of classic allure and modern stylings characterises the design of this yacht, seen at its greatest in FAR NIENTE’s deck house. This area is built in cold moulded wood composite, with timber beams and other structural elements kept visible.

Andre Hoek, Founder of Hoek Design Naval Architects, commented: ‘Once again we have combined the timeless and elegant, good looks of a classic yacht design with an optimised underwater body using modern design software.’

On top of exceptional seaworthiness and efficiency, FAR NIENTE’s hull design allows for generous volumes and spacious accommodation. The Owners cabin is located forward, and four double guest cabins can be found on the lower deck.

A large main deck salon is a highlight of the main deck, whilst a stunning sky lounge is situated on the bridge deck. Three crew cabins, the galley and laundry are also located on FAR NIENTE’s lower deck.

‘We are very glad to announce the completion and successful delivery of MY Far Niente,’ commented Elif Yıldırım, Managing Partner of SES Yachts. ‘She is a unique yacht with all the hallmarks of Hoek Design style and expertise. We believe she will be a distinguishing yacht in the superyacht fleet.’

SES Yachts has an exciting year ahead, with three commissioned yachts currently in its order book, of which a 40m sailing yacht and a 26m motor yacht are scheduled for completion this summer.
