Sunreef Unveils The Zero Cat: A Sustainable Sailing Superyacht
The Sunreef R&D Department is currently developing a sustainable superyacht, the Zero Cat. She will work by converting methanol to clean hydrogen, providing self-sufficiency and unlimited autonomy.
Over recent years, the superyacht industry has been developing new, more environmentally friendly alternatives, for example the use of hybrid engines. Sunreef is taking this even further, with a zero-emission catamaran currently in development. She will measure above 90 feet, combining hydrogen power and electric propulsion to achieve a new level of eco-conscious cruising.
A hydrogen generator will produce hydrogen from methanol on board. Solar cells built into the entire bodywork of the yacht will allow for a solar power system. The result from this green power system will be clean energy generated with zero emissions, used for electric propulsion and hotel loads.
Sunreef has a dedicated commitment to the environment and greener yachting solutions, represented perfectly by the Zero Cat. Advanced technologies, engineering expertise, and an exceptional understanding of sustainable design are ways in which Sunreef Yachts is striving to redefine the boundaries of luxury sailing with minimal environmental impact.
‘Our goal is to revolutionize the industry by offering discerning customers an exceptional zero-emission sailing experience. This project represents a milestone in our ongoing commitment to protecting our oceans and preserving the natural beauty of the sea.’, says Nicolas Lapp, CTO & co-founder of Sunreef Yachts.
