The Industry Rises to the Challenge: First Episode of This is Monaco Season Two Launches

By Emily Dawkins

The first episode of a brand-new season of ‘This is Monaco’ has officially launched and is now streaming on Superyachts.com. In collaboration with the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS), this new two-part series delves into the challenges and demands currently faced by the industry from a new wave of younger, more eco-concious and adventurous superyacht clientele, exploring how, as the pinnacle of the yachting calendar, the Monaco Yacht Show has become the ultimate event to facilitate these evolving needs.

In the first episode of This is Monaco Season Two, ‘A Green Commitment’, we discover the fascinating world of sustainable innovations and green technology developed from within the very heart of the superyacht industry.

Shedding light on the challenges faced by stakeholders around the world involved in the production and management of superyachts, ‘A Green Commitment’ highlights the collaborative efforts between industry experts and yacht owners, as they join forces to spearhead environmentally-conscious practices and integrate innovative ecological alternatives onboard superyachts.

Amidst the pursuit of a more eco-conscious world across various industries, the superyacht sector continues to emerge as a driving force, dedicated to preserving its own treasured playground: the oceans. In conversation with leading sustainability experts, episode one uncovers how companies across the industry have already developed a wide array of solutions geared at more sustainable enjoyment onboard.

‘People don’t realise that these technologies are actually already available,’ shared Laurent Perignon, Marine Division Manager of EODev. ‘It's not for tomorrow or in ten years' time, it's possible to integrate these solutions onboard yachts already.’

But where can yacht owners go to discover more? The launch of the Monaco Yacht Show's groundbreaking Sustainability Hub last year has provided the ultimate platform for those both inside and out of the industry, offering an all-encompassing space dedicated to the research and development of sustainable solutions in yachting. This new exhibition area is sponsored by Siemens Energy and supported by Water Revolution Foundation, which is responsible for selecting the most viable exhibitors.

Ultimately, 'A Green Commitment' takes viewers on an inspiring journey of how the superyacht industry, typically operating under the radar, is in fact leading the charge in adopting sustainable practices.

'You can go to boat shows probably every other month or so, but this is where everybody congregates. And in that environment, which is focused and which has a high level of knowledge, that's precisely where you want to spread the word', concludes Henk de Vries III, CEO of Feadship and Chair of Water Revolution Foundation.
