The Latest & Greatest Superyachts on Display at FLIBS 2023
Speaking to Tankoa, Heesen and Bering Yachts, Superyachts.com gained an insight into these three builders’ recent activities, US presence and their spectacular superyachts on display at FLIBS 2023.
The Superyacht Village at FLIBS is home to an array of exceptional shipyards, and we at Superyachts.com were lucky enough to speak to three at this year’s show: Tankoa, Heesen and Bering Yachts.
Giuseppe Mazza, Sales Manager of Tankoa, detailed the stunning 82m CASINO ROYALE, Tankoa’s largest yacht to date, which was proudly on display at the show. Launched in 2018, CASINO ROYALE is a beautiful example of Tankoa’s excellent craftsmanship, recently repainted all white for an eye-catching exterior alongside an interior refit, ensuring she is of the highest quality. She is a spacious design, the four VIP staterooms all positioned on the main deck so those onboard can experience maximum comfort.
The 64th edition of FLIBS is the first time Tankoa has had a stand in the Superyacht Village. The shipyard has grown significantly, especially in the US, with nine yachts all over 45m currently under construction.
Heesen returned to the Superyacht Village for the fourth time, displaying its 50m OCEAN Z. Thom Conboy proudly discussed this full-displacement yacht, with a Scandinavian-chic design penned by Reymond Langton.
The Dutch yard currently has several projects in build, one of which being the highly anticipated Project GRACE, ‘an evolution of OCEAN Z’, according to Conboy. The Director of Sales articulated the changes the industry has seen over the years, which Heesen is adapting to ensure clients' demands are met. A significant desire for new builds is the immersion with surroundings, and the feeling of closeness with the water: ‘I think the interaction with water, being able to get to water, in the water is probably the biggest change.’ Heesen achieves this by creating yachts with back ends closer to the water and floor-to-ceiling glass.
Finally, Superyachts.com had the pleasure of speaking with the Founder and President of Bering Yachts, Alexei Mikhailov. He showed us onboard the Bering 92, a fully custom, 92ft superyacht. She has four staterooms, all of which are highly spacious, and has been built to charter-class requirements, Mikhailov describing her as, ‘a good example of Bering philosophy.’
Mikhailov also gave us an insight into the B120, of which he described as his favourite design so far. She is the latest development for the shipyard, able to ‘achieve what is not being achieved so far in this size.’
These three shipyards are perfect examples of the exceptional ways that superyacht builders are working to meet clients' needs whilst continuing to expand into global markets. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is, and will continue to be, a sensational hub for the world’s greatest builders to showcase their superyachts to the world.
