Top 100: The Largest Yachts Launched This Year
Using our extensive Top 100 Owner's Search, we take a look at some of the largest and most notable yachts that have launched so far in 2022, revealing their current global or Top 100 ranking (defined by size).
After a tumultuous few years during the pandemic, causing challenging builds for many shipyards, the recent launches of 2022 have already taken the yachting world by storm. With some impressive Top 100 contenders, as well as launches on the smaller side, the industry has thus far welcomed several exciting new projects to the waters.
146m OK - Oshima Shipbuilders
Following a transformative refit by Karamarine Shipyard, OK, originally built by Oshima Shipbuilders in 1982, has certainly demanded the industry’s attention. Launched at the end of January, this unique semi-submersible has been carefully revamped into a worldwide expedition vessel. Boasting an extensive range of features, including a tennis court and a 40-ton crane, this expansive yacht also offers a generous deck submerging capacity for transporting a variety of toys and vehicles. The muscular exterior by renowned designer Timur Bozca is yet another reason why OK is seated firmly at 8th in the current Top 100.
74m Bilgin 243 - Bilgin Yachts
Istanbul-based shipyard Bilgin Yachts welcomed its new Bilgin 243 to the waters at her technical launch earlier in January. Designed by Unique Yacht Design, this spacious motor yacht comprises five decks and features extensive facilities including a beach club, gym and tender garage. Ahead of her scheduled delivery in 2024, the Bilgin 243 vessel has begun her outfitting process in West Istanbul, presenting a similar layout to the marginally larger Bilgin 263 range. Bilgin 243 currently holds the global ranking of 189th.
71.1m Juice - Feadship
Another notable launch of 2022 is Feadship’s 71.1m Juice. As the first launch this year for the Dutch shipyard, the custom motor yacht, that was built for a repeat client, flaunts an elegant RWD exterior and blissful Peter Marino interior. Named to reflect her owner’s passion for modern art, the 71.1m vessel presents a luxuriously confident, yet graceful design. 71.1m Juice lies 232nd in the global ranking.
67m CALEX - Benetti
Launched last week and planned for delivery this spring, 67m CALEX became Benetti’s first custom launch of the year. Sporting an elegant exterior designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta, the 67m vessel encompasses a perfectly balanced layout across her five decks. Home to ample entertaining areas, a jacuzzi pool and her very own internal lift, CALEX has been fantastically customised to meet the needs of her Californian owner. Despite being seated at 277th in the global rankings, CALEX is a substantial new addition to the Benetti fleet.
62m RIO - CRN
Custom superyacht RIO made headlines earlier this year when she was launched only one day after the news of her sale. Hitting the water at the Italian yacht builder’s Ancona shipyard in mid-January, RIO is an excellent example of CRN’s luxurious custom builds. Working with designers Omega Architects and Pulina Exclusive Interiors, the Ferretti Group member accomplished a sporty, yet stunning finish on the 62m motor yacht. RIO currently holds the global rank of 350th.
