U-Boat Worx Unveils New Renderings of 37m Superyacht-Submarine Hybrid
Dutch submersible builder U-Boat Worx has released new renderings showcasing the interior of a lavish 37.5-metre underwater superyacht concept 'Nautilus'.
First introduced to the yachting world at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show, the concept has since been developed further in collaboration with yacht design studio Officina Armare.
Doubling as an on-water vessel as well as a submersible, Nautilus has a depth rating of 150 metres. In terms of performance, this diesel-electric model has a cruising speed of nine knots on the surface and an underwater speed of four knots. The vessel is predicted to stay underwater for up to four days. At cruise speed, the underwater endurance is six hours, with a range of up to 3,200 nautical miles.
Highlights include a 50 square metre dinner and lounge area called the Mezzanine Observation Lounge that provides cinematic views of the marine life from four-metre circular windows, a foredeck lounge that is perfect for cocktails and entertainment, and a high-tech, well-equipped gym. Nautilus is also on track to include an Owner's Master Cabin with a private bathroom and four additional guest cabins, as well as crew quarters designed to accommodate up to 6 crew members.
Nautilus also boasts a spacious sundeck fitted with a freshwater pool, a bar, an al fresco lounge and a Jacuzzi; a relaxing area for guests that can be neatly retracted before the submarine slips below sea level.
When in use as a yacht, she also pairs with a new, pressure-resistant electric tender stowed under the aft deck called 'The Aronnax', which can transport up to five scuba divers to underwater diving spots.
“People that have decided to buy a yacht will now have to consider if their vessel of choice can also dive down to 150 metres,” commented U-Boat Worx Chairman and Founder Bert Houtman.
“If the sea becomes too rough, you simply dive and continue your voyage in comfort. With the Nautilus, the yachting market will never be the same again. Nautilus is the realisation of this vision." he adds.
